YS Avinash Reddy is one of the most talked-about politicians in Andhra Pradesh today — not just because of his political clout, but because of the legal battles and controversies that have followed him for years. A three-time Member of Parliament from the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, Avinash Reddy belongs to the powerful YS family — the same political dynasty founded by the late Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Born into a family deeply embedded in Rayalaseema politics, Avinash Reddy entered Parliament for the first time in 2014 as a YSRCP candidate. He retained the seat in 2019 and again in 2024, making him one of the party’s most consistent electoral performers. His Kadapa constituency is considered a stronghold of the YS family, and Avinash has managed to hold it firm through three elections despite mounting controversies.
Beyond elections, Avinash Reddy is known as a loyalist of YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. In April 2018, he was among the YSRCP MPs who resigned from Lok Sabha in protest against the central government’s refusal to grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. That move reinforced his image as a party soldier willing to take bold political steps.
However, his political career has been overshadowed significantly by the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, in which he is named as an accused. The case has dragged through courts for years and remains one of the most sensational political murder cases in Andhra Pradesh’s recent history. Despite the legal pressure, Avinash Reddy has remained politically active, attending Parliament sessions and speaking out on behalf of the party.
