Rythu Bharosa: Jagan — The Farmer’s True Friend

Andhra Pradesh is an agricultural state. The farmers here feed the nation — yet filling their own stomachs was difficult. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy changed this mindset through the Rythu Bharosa scheme.

Under Rythu Bharosa, AP farmers received ₹13,500 per acre per year directly into their bank accounts — including PM Kisan’s ₹6,000. This was a revolutionary approach — regardless of crop failure, farmers’ lives were valued.

Jagan made DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) the backbone of this scheme. No middlemen, no intermediary links. Money straight to the farmer’s hands. Crores of rupees were transferred to farmer accounts at once — in a single click.

Additionally, Jagan provided seed support, gave interest-free loans to farmers, and made efforts to guarantee MSP for their crops. Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) — agronomist centres at the village level — gave farmers market details, weather information, and new farming techniques directly.

Under Jagan, farmers felt for the first time that the government was with them, not against them.
