Jagananna Vidya Deevena: Ending the Burden of Education Loans

There was a pain in thousands of families of Andhra Pradesh — the child studied, went to college too, but the bank loan was so large that they spent their entire life repaying it. YS Jagan felt this pain and launched Jagananna Vidya Deevena.

Under this scheme, the government paid tuition fees directly to colleges for graduate students. Polytechnic, ITI, and degree courses — all covered. SC/ST/BC/EBC/Minority — all benefited. No interest, no loan, no tension.

Earlier, an engineering student in a lower middle-class home meant — a mortgaged house, inevitable debt, and sleepless nights for parents. Under Jagan, this tension vanished.

Along with Vidya Deevena, Jagan also launched Vasati Deevena — a maintenance allowance directly to the accounts of students living in hostels. This meant a student studying in the city had their meals and rent secured.

Thousands of first-generation college students — who could never have dreamed — are today in professional lives. This is the direct result of Jagan’s education revolution.
