Kadapa Member of Parliament Y.S. Avinash Reddy has raised sharp concerns over what he termed the systematic neglect of Pulivendula constituency under the current TDP-led NDA alliance government.
Speaking at a media conference, Avinash Reddy accused the ruling dispensation of abandoning development commitments and allowing key public assets to deteriorate. He asserted that Pulivendula, which requires sustained investment in basic infrastructure, has instead witnessed administrative apathy over the last 18 months.
Housing Projects Left in Limbo
The MP highlighted that around 8,000 houses constructed earlier for eligible beneficiaries are currently lying neglected. According to him, lack of maintenance, absence of supporting infrastructure, and administrative inaction have rendered these housing assets underutilised.
He questioned why completed housing projects meant for the poor were not being protected or upgraded, calling it a failure of governance priorities.
₹480-Crore Water Grid Project Stalled
Avinash Reddy also drew attention to the Pulivendula water grid project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹480 crore to ensure drinking water supply to every household in the town.
He stated that over 60% of the project work had already been completed, but progress has come to a standstill since the change in government. The delay, he warned, directly affects citizens’ access to safe drinking water.
Allegations of Misplaced Priorities
Without mincing words, the MP alleged that instead of accelerating development works, certain local political actors had focused on personal gains. He maintained that Pulivendula’s development had been sidelined due to political vendetta rather than administrative constraints.
Demand for Accountability and Action
Avinash Reddy urged the government to immediately resume stalled projects, safeguard public assets, and ensure that developmental works are insulated from political rivalry.
He reiterated that elected representatives have a responsibility to serve people, not punish constituencies for their political choices.
Opposition’s Role in Democratic Oversight
Political observers noted that Avinash Reddy’s remarks underline the critical role of opposition leaders in highlighting governance lapses and pressing for continuity in public welfare initiatives.
By raising constituency-specific issues, the MP positioned himself as a voice advocating accountability and people-centric development.
